Local law enforcement and social service agencies are once again preparing for the annual point in time (PIT) count as part of the Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Continuum of Care Program (CoC). Local CoC’s are the collective recipients of federal funding that supports services for people who are experiencing homelessness. SEI has assisted with these efforts as part of our involvement with Nevada’s CoC organizations for many years.
The annual PIT count identifies the number of people experiencing homelessness in our region at a given time (this year, it will be January 25, 2018). This information is used to help inform the amount funding our local CoC receives from HUD. The CoC is required to perform the count as part of the funding process.
During the PIT, volunteers distribute goody bags to the individuals who are being counted. This year, the agencies are hoping into include gift cards for a hot meal in each goody bag. Please consider donating to help us reach the goal of $1,000 by visiting our GoFundMe page.
